Digital Image Submission Instructions

Overview

Images for the monthly competitions are submitted through this website on-line.

Each month prior to submission you should select and prepare your images according to the technical guidelines (1024 wide, 768 high, 1 MB file size, sRGB format). Your files must be named according to the naming standards which contain your membership number, category, and image title.

Once you are ready (and prior to the submission deadline) you submit your images using the upload page. This will copy them from your computer to our server.

Should you have need to alter any your submissions, please email the Digital Committee, before taking any action. This will ensure that the matter will be resolved in an accurate and timely manner.

Preparation

Each image being submitted for the competitions must have the following technical characteristics.

The maximum allowable width (horizontal dimension) shall not exceed 1024 pixels.

The maximum allowable height (vertical dimension) shall not exceed 768 pixels, regardless of the image's primary orientation (portrait or landscape).

The maximum file size shall not exceed 1 megabyte (MB); the image will not be accepted if the size is greater.

The image file must be in JPG/JPEG format. The image profile should be sRGB to be consistent with the projector and optimum viewing.

Naming Your Files

Your images can be named however you want on your computer. When you upload you will select the file(s) you want to upload and specify a title. Titles may only contain the following characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, _, and #. When entering your title on the form, replace all spaces with underscores "_". (Don't worry, the underscores will be replaced with spaces when the competition slide show is created.) Titles are limited to 40 characters in length.

Submission

Prior to submitting your images, it would be in your best interest to collect all your images into a single folder. This will eliminate the need to spend extra time navigating from folder to folder in search of your images.

You will need your current member ID number to submit images to a competition. If you do not know your member number, contact Sue O. When you upload your images you will be prompted for your class, membership number, contact information, and your images.

Confirmation

Once you’ve selected your images for upload, the submission process does an initial validation to ensure that your image meets the dimension and size limits. If there are problems they will be displayed immediately. Once your images have been successfully submitted, an email will be sent to you and DigitalCompetition@mvcameraclub.org.

You are responsible for reading the email and ensuring the proper number of images are listed, with the correct titles and categories. If there are issues contact the Digital Committee immediately. (Keep a copy of this response. You will be asked to produce it if there is a question on whether an image was received for competition, before the committee will try to make appropriate accommodations.) Make sure that your SPAM filter doesn’t block DigitalCompetition@mvcameraclub.org.

Please monitor your email for messages from DigitalCompetition@mvcameraclub.org. The Digital Committee will contact you with any issues with your image (such as an obvious violation of the rules).

If there are issues The Committee may either pull the image from the competition or make the appropriate adjustment (like changing categories) or rotating images using default Photoshop setting as required, at their discretion. All corrections must be received within 24 hours of the submission deadline.
