Digital Competitions Scoring & Awards
Scoring
The Judge is asked to assign a "fair and just" score for each image, based on its individual quality and merits. The judge is also requested to consider the following guidelines when scoring the images, using a 3 to 30 point range. Tie scores are acceptable and encouraged, when the judge deems appropriate.
1) Assign a score of 3 points to an image that should be disqualified.
2) Assign a score in the range 17 to 19 points for those images having major flaws or require a significant amount of work for improvement.
3) Assign a score of 20 to 23 points for those images that are deemed average or above average.
4) Assign a score of 24 to 30 points for those images that are clearing well above average in all interest/impact, technical and compositional aspects.
NOTE: The judge is asked to consider the story telling value of a photograph more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality for Nature (N), Travel (T) and Photojournalism (J) images.

In addition, a Digital Photographer of the Year Award is presented to the photographer with the ten highest scoring images across categories.
