"The image was shot at the Salisbury State Reservation
the morning after an early March snow fall. These birds
were about due to migrate back north and I had gone to
see if they were still around. As I walked through the
trees I saw some snow fall even there was now wind. At
first I didn't see the bird (short eared owl) but then
the yellow of it's eyes caught my attention and I grabbed
a number of shots. Images were captured with a Nikon D2X,
Nikon 200-400 AFS VR lens and TC14EII converter, hand
held. "
