Keep an eye on favorite subjects

Do you have a favorite subject that you love to photograph over and over? It's amazing to see how a subject can change over time. Notice changes with lighting during various times of day, weather conditions, seasons and angles. Take a look at just a few of the ways to 'see' the George Washington Monument in the Public Garden over a year.

    1. Spring is beautiful in the Public Garden. The puffy white clouds add interest and nicely serve as a backdrop to the statue.

    2. Late in the day, with no clouds, there is a completely different feeling.

    3. In the winter, the sun is much lower in the sky, and made for an interesting view late in the day.

    1. As you get comfortable with a subject, try to look at it from different views. Move right in for a close-up!

    2. Consider backing up to get a wide shot. A dull winter day actually makes for an interesting mood in this photograph. The branch can add interest and notice that the horse appears to have room to move into the center.

    3. Consider night time shots! The glow of the lights create a silhouette of the statue.
